As a 2008 graduation of Westfield State College with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education I have enjoyed being a high school English teacher for two years. My training prior to my career involves experience with English at all four high school levels, drama (both academic and extra curricular,) speech methods and instruction, and urban school environments. Additionally, career opportunities while teaching have allowed me to pursue new and progressive methods of teaching literature and writing. As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so. I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.

I have always been extremely focused on education, both my own and that of others. While in high school, I also began tutoring students that were still in elementary and middle school. Although I considered education as a career, I instead opted to major in psychology, in which I earned a BA in 2007. I also hold an AA in Liberal Studies.
