As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so. I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.

I have a BA in Microbiology and an MA in Zoology. I have 7-8 years experience teaching biology, ecology, microbiology and environmental science at the college level. In addition I have many years experience in software engineering, technical writing, software quality assurance, and technical editing. In the classroom I rely on traditional lecture, supplemented by Powerpoint presentations, animations, and lists and diagrams on the white board. I usually assign a research paper. Have played flute for 30 years. Studied under Aubrie Dionne privately. Performed in Ms. Dionne's flute choir's at the Bell Center for the Arts and the Manchester Community Music School. Accepted to the Julius Baker masterclass week long conference in 2001. Began playing with the Strafford Wind Symphony in March of 2003. Currently, I am the principle flutist and section leader positions, which have been held for 4 years. I have taught privately upon request over the last 4 years.
