Earning a BS in Materials Science and Engineering involves knowledge of math, physics, and chemistry. Grammatical and writing skills have been strengthened over the years by writing for the college newspaper, laboratory reports and an extensive amount of research papers due to interests in public policy. Engineers usually cannot write; I can. I tutored extensively in high school, it was my primary income stream, while college revolved more around study groups where whoever knew the most took the lead. In Physics especially tutoring, the approach that gives me best result so far is to directly engage the student in solving Physics problems. It is one thing to present the subject matter but it is a whole different thing to solve problems. Most students don't really understand the significance of the theory or law until they apply in solving physics problems especially those with relevance to real life situations. Since most of the theory were taught in school already, I kind of directly immerse the student to problem solving because that is where you will know whether the student understand the subject matter or not. I have a BS in mechanical and materials Engr from the university of conneccticut. I have masters in science management, MBA and project management. I have experience a design engineer, Material failure analyst, project engineer, project manager and program manager. At the current time i am project/business manager for the lower pressure compression for aircraft engines. I have been tutoring since my sophomore year in college.
