A life-long learner first, an educator next

I am a retired college educator with 33 years of experience teaching all-levels Spanish, Latino culture studies, and the literature of both Spain and Latin America. I have excellent bilingual (Spanish/English) written and oral communication skills with extensive experience in academic writing, proof-reading and editing in both languages I am also a teacher-training specialist. From 1990 until retirement in 2012, I equipped students to be Spanish teachers. Presently, former students are educators in Texas, New Mexico, and Washington while others teach abroad. Some having earned Master’s, PhD’s and JD’s currently teach at the university level. Others have taught Spanish abroad in Russia, China and do so currently in Dubai, Saudi Arabia. Language Arts is one of my top subjects!

I am proficient in tutoring English and any Language Arts area. I am also a journalist in my career, and would love to help anyone who is needing a little push. I am a mother to a 1st grader and my husband attends law school. I am very active in Lubbock ISD and am room mom for my daughter's class. I am also a contributing writer in my spare time.
I first ask questions to get familiar with my students teaching style and their problem areas and what they're struggling with. I am very visual so any time I can explain something using a picture, etc, I do. I am very patient and understanding.

College Teacher Tutoring Math, Economics Accounting TestPrep

As a student I was always helping my friends and brothers with their school work, especially math. While in graduate school working on my Masters degree I tutored for the athletic department and even tutored some of my classmates who were college professors working on their PhD's. I have been a college teacher for more than 5 years and started doing private tutoring over 2 years ago.
Teaching style varies by student and by subject, and even varies according to my level of skill in the subject matter. I have been told that I make things that are confusing or hard to understand easy, and I love that 'I see' look in a student's eyes.
