My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : I have been a special education teacher for 15 years and a special education administrator for 5 years. I have worked with students that have struggle severely with learning. I am very patient and will try many techniques until children learn in their style of learning. I believe the key is to help children find the way that they learn best so they can then use that method to make learning easier moving forward.

I believe my patience and creativity allows children to feel comfortable with their own learning needs. I work with them and help them find their unique learning style. We then build on that style to build their confidence and ability. All children can learn once we find their unique learning "channel".
I have been a Special Education Teacher for 15 years and an administrator for 5 years. I have taught at both the elementary, intermediate and high school levels. I have worked with students who have been severely cognitively disabled and those that have had multiple attention and behavioral concerns. I am very patient and have been able to create systems to provide structure to keep kids on track. I always want children to know what to expect and have a structure in which to be successful.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began teaching 22 years ago at a middle school and later taught high school when I relocated to the beach. I also tutored at a local community college. The most rewarding aspect of teaching and tutoring is when the lightbulb goes off at the crucial point of understanding in the student's mind. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management and School Leadership. Furthermore, I have 67 additional education credits pertaining to teaching, tutoring, communication and human resources. A Little Bit About Me...

My educational background at Northern Illinois University has helped me to build a solid foundation of understanding educational practices and students’ physiological, cognitive, emotional, and social needs. Moreover, I had exposure to learners of different cultures, races, ethnicities, and learning abilities. For example, I had the opportunity to teach in a second grade classroom in which I worked with a diverse group of students—the classroom consisted of students with depression, oppositional/defiant disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder, students with IEP for language and speech, students with 504 plans, and students who were either reading significantly below grade level, and students who needed to be challenged.
Teaching is my passion and I always wanted to become a teacher, and three most important reasons for this are the opportunity to inspire students, continuous ... read more
