I have studied math to the Numerical Linear Algebra level, senior undergraduate/graduate college course. I have worked in engineering using the calculus and algebra in daily definitions of processes. I have worked as an Algebra tutor during 1998 to 1999 for Helping Hands Tutoring, in Dickson, Tennessee. During college, I worked as a tutor to other students in my class. Many times I was helping by phone during the night. I have studied Mandarin for 4 years (beginner), and German (basics).
I enjoy teaching and finding ways for others to latch on to the ideas. I teach 4-H Shooting Sports each spring and summer. I am certified to instruct Archery and Pistol. When a question is asked, I am not going to simply just tell the student the answer. I would want them to think it out and try and figure it out for themselves. I would however guide them in the right direction and even ask them other questions they may know in order for them to figure out the intial problem. I feel that these types of interactions are a more effective way of learning. Also, writing things down helps tremedously because not only are you thinking it, but you're seeing it and reading it as well. I am a very easy person to get along with, and I am also very encouraging. I enjoy helping others whether it's in an academic environment or not.
