I am completing my MA in Secondary Education from the University Phoenix (Online), needing only a student teaching assignment in the field of secondary mathematics to complete all the degree requirements . I currently hold a BA in Computer Science from Hood College. Prior to pursuing a career in education, I spent 30 years in the aerospace industry managing engineering development programs. During my degree pursuit, I have spent time in middle school and secondary school classrooms both as an observer, and substitute teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

I base my teaching on the pholosophy of Eli Siegal: "Aesthetic Realism". It states that "All beauty is a making one of opposites, and a making one of opposites is what we are going after in ourselves" Thus, I relate the subject matter in hand to students' personal lives. For example, if we are learning Le Chartelier's Princlple, which concerns the response of a chemical reaction to stress, I have my students discuss the types of stress they experience, and their responses. We compare this to the beautifully precise and appropriate reaction in Chemistry, where the response is never inapproriate, insufficent or in excess. This method has also taught me that I have much to learn from my students and their life experiences. .
