Highly Qualified Certified Master Teacher

Tutoring differs from teaching in that "style" is replaced by method. Some of the methods I have used in the past are rhythm and music, neumonic devices, and of course, drill and practice. I have been told that I am gifted with presenting material in novel ways.
As mentioned in my earlier description, I have eighteen years experience as an educator. I have taught students of all ages from early childhood through college and non-traditional adult education. I am a retired college English professor who taught several college transfer courses at the community college level. I also worked as a tutor for several years at the college. I hold a master's degree in Creative Writing and English Literature. My undergraduate degree is in Speech Correction. Currently, I am writing screenplays and making short films.

I have taught special education since August of 1989. I began at Dunn Middle School with a mildly mentally handicapped self-contained class. After three years I taught for one year at Clayton Primary in a multi-handicapped class. I then transferred to Four Oaks Middle School in 1993 where I continue to teach.
