I have three teenagers at home. I began as a substitute teacher in 2005. I worked in a life skills classroom for one and a half years. After graduating with my Bachelor's degree I worked as a resource and content mastery teacher for 4 years in grades K-5 teaching all subjects. I worked for one year in grades K-5 as a resource teacher for Reading, Math, and Language Arts. This is my first year as an inclusion teacher. Ex-classroom school teacher with 10 years plus experience!

My teaching style is one that always tries to relate to the child and to have fun. Does the child enjoy video games, dinosaurs, soccer, dance, or a particular cartoon character? When I discover what it is the child enjoys, I bring that element into the subject we are learning about. If the child likes soccer and struggles in reading, I research about famous soccer players and find books on them. Perhaps, at the end of a teaching session, we go outside and kick the soccer ball for 5 minutes as a source of inspiration to get work completed. Bringing in other ways of learning through play and games is also something I enjoy. Playing simple math games or reading games is a easy way to teach a child, without them realizing they are learning.
