I am currently a seniour at the University of Kentucky, and hope to graduate with a Political Science degree at the end of the summer of 2013. I have studied History, Political Science, and the Russian Language for nearly five years. I have had a deverse array of training in each of these areas. In History, I have training in European, particulalry German, Colonial American, Latin American and Byzantine history. In Social Studies I create rhymes to remember locations for Geography. I put the history lessons into a literal short story and give them tools to remember cetain events. I have a recent Bachelor's in Accounting, as well as 15+ years of accounting experience in both private and non-profit settings. While working at Thornhill Education Center, I had the opportunity to work with students and help teach GED classes. My main focus was math. I also had the opportunity to teach a level 1 accounting class for community education.
I don't think I have really developed a "unique style" by only teaching a year or so. I am a very patient person and I really like to see the "sparkle" in a students eye, when they truly understand something for the 1st time. I like to explain a concept and then give the student a problem and see if they get it. If not, I will go over as many times necessary...until they understand the material.
