A Little Bit About Me...

As a mother of three teenagers with distinctly different personalities and learning styles, I approach teaching in customized ways that help them open up rather than close down when faced with academic obstacles. I have refined that approach when working with other students, as well. I believe a positive attitude is contagious, so I initiate conversations which enable the student to express whatever knowledge they already have in a given subject. Then we build upon that base of understanding, filling in gaps with new knowledge, eventually reaching higher levels of comprehension and mastery of the subject. A Little Bit About Me...

As a Hiram College student I feel I have gained a great deal of knowledge through a combination of learning from excellent instructors and having a variety of teaching experiences. I student taught tenth grade for a semester during my senior year of college at West Geauga High School. This experience was very valuable and prepared me for working with students in a variety of ways. I have a degree specifically in English Education and am trained to teach and tutor in all areas of Language Arts, including reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and grammar. During my time at Hiram College I gained experience working with 3rd-6th graders and college students in writing.
