A Little Bit About Me...

I am quite fond of children and their amazing desire and ability to learn. I think that education is one of the most important aspect of a child's upbringing and any contribution that I can make would be very gratifying. I think children differ in their learning styles and I am flexible to work with children who are visual learners through diagrams, colors and charts, or with children who are learn through memorization and application. A Little Bit About Me...

I first make learning fun and exciting. As in past experience each child learns diffently and I need to be able to adapt to this. I first see what the level of the child is then work on the next step and help make sure the new level is learned as well as the old level is still maintained.

My teaching style is to discover what each student needs to learn in order to be successful. I teach in a way that is most effective with that student. I have found that students can make rapid progress when they have an opportunity to fill in the gaps of their skills and knowledge. Over the years, I have learned many strategies to help students acquire the skills they need. I help students to build on their strengths as they overcome their academic weaknesses. I have also learned that students learn more quickly when the lesson is interesting to them, so I choose reading material for a lesson with that in mind. I have been in the educational field for over 15 years as a tutor, aide, and a classroom teacher. I have a degree in Food and Nutrition which contained many credit hours of science. In fact, my adviser wanted my to minor in Science because of all of my credits. I have taken 12 credit hours of Biology, 12 credit hours of Chemistry, and 9 credit hours of Anatomy and Physiology. All of these courses had laboratory classes, as well as, lectures. I also have a degree in elementary Education. I am currently working on my Masters in Counseling.
