My comments on tutoring English ESOL : I have a vast experience teaching English as a Second language to newcomers, beginner and intermediate levels of English language proficiency.

As a language teacher, I believe in integrated learning. I use strategies to teach all four language skills and culture of the targeted language every lesson. I also think that learning vocabulary is as important as learning listening, speaking, reading and writing. I work with my students on accent reduction as it has lately become a part of the language proficiency test. I customize my lesson courses to meet the needs of every particular student.
I graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester NY, with Master's in Education, majoring in Teaching English to Speakers for who English is not a native language. I feel as though every student will have their own niche. They will have a special subject that they enjoy the most and one that they despise. I think that figuring out how the child studies for the subject they enjoy will lead to an understanding of how to motivate that student to learn the subjects that are more difficult for them. Also, if the student's teacher stays positive and pushes him or her towards success by means of positive reinforcement they will succeed.
While studying at SUNY ESF I held a position as a teaching assistant for Western Civilization. This involved grading exams and papers, preparing and giving lectures, and holding office hours to assist students with any questions or concerns they may have had. I also spent time volunteering to teach and after school science club through ESF Outreach for elementary / middle school aged children.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is based on the individual student. Much of my enjoyment of tutoring comes from the opportunity to work with students creatively and develop them through their own unique learning styles.
