I also taught a year in middle school, a year in community college and worked in administrative positions at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. I enjoy the process of helping students to learn. It is a great experience to see their minds grasp a new concept or idea. I realize that each student is an individual and as such may have a different learning style than another. I have had a variety of experiences as a teacher. I, at first, worked as a substitute for about 3 years. Then I worked as a 3rd-grade teacher in a private school for one year. I think that a through understanding in any subject comes about when a student can recognize the important concepts, and how they relate to each other, and speak those concepts in words which they understand--while gaining the vocabulary and proficiency as each subject demands. I enjoy learning and try to pass along some of my enthusiasm to my students. I will work with the student to find the best methods for us to approach the material so he or she will have the greatest success. I believe that creating a structure assists in the learning process, but the structure may be different for different people.
