I am most familiar with conversation, as a means of relating information and testing understanding. I think that a through understanding in any subject comes about when a student can recognize the important concepts, and how they relate to each other, and speak those concepts in words which they understand--while gaining the vocabulary and proficiency as each subject demands. I earned a bachelor of science degree in Mathematics and have gain full understanding of the subject. As a science student during my high school level has also given me an in depth knowledge in the sciences as well. I think everyone has the ability to learn, it's just a matter of understand how we learn. Some soak it up just by listening in the classroom, some need to spend time on their own working through assignments so they can learn it through repetition.
