Mathematics is a joy and privilege to teach students because of its extensive relationship to the world and connection to everyday life. I believe that you need to relate to a child’s prior knowledge in order to gain an understanding of future material. I value a child’s discovery of a topic and act as a guide in my students learning. I was a teaching assistant for three of my four years at the University of Delaware. I taught courses, as well as tutored students and graded exams. Additionally, I have a great deal of experience in sciences and english, specifically biology and microbiology, as well as excellent grammar skills.
I believe teaching others a skill or new information is a gift, to both myself and the student. When the light goes off in their head, and the "I got it!" look comes across their face, I feel a sense of accomplishment.
