As a former U.S.Army academics instructor, I have taught several hundred students from many countries in South and Central America as well as Mexico. The academic program for these students was conducted exclusively in the Spanish language. I have received extensive education in technical terminology, lesson plan preparation, classroom conduct, and teaching aid operation. As a high school substitute teacher, I was able to implement my military experience into civilian use with a high degree of success. I am a native of Puerto Rico. I learned English as a second language at the age of 11 years old. I recall the difficulty I had in learning the English language while at the same time trying to make it through the 5th grade. The task was frustrating and often overwhelming. The few teachers who made the effort to tutor me individualy were the ones who made the difference in my academic life.
