My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : While I have not had any students with Dyslexia, I have recently read The Gift of Dyslexia and feel I have an understanding of what students experience. I am willing to work on strategies to help the student at home and in school.

I have taught K for 13 years. I understand the value of one on one time, and that students are all different. Recently I spent 10 months teaching missionary children in Uganda. There I taught 4th, 5th, and 7th graders. Students in my class have had vision issues, autism, aspergers, and ADD/ADHD. With each situation, I have evaluated where the student was and revamped how I was teaching to meet their needs.
I like to see where the student is and meet him there. Look at what needs to be taught and discover the best way to impart that learning to the individual child.

I have helped many kids that have ADD with anything that is need same with ADHD I have helped at least 10 kids and I have never had a compliant. I have a method with kids that deal with Deislxya to make it were they can over come it kids with this I have helped about 5 and also have not had any complaints

As a graduate of a small liberal arts college, I have spent many hours volunteering to help tutor my classmates in both biology and the humanities. I hold a bachelor's degree in biology. I have learned extensive grammatical skills through my school's intensive general studies program. I am confident in my ability to tutor students in mathematics, science, English and the humanities at the K-12 level and biology and English at the college level.
I believe that students best learn from doing. My role as a tutor is not just to provide answers, but to facilitate and encourage learning.
