I am currently a student and Brown University studying in mathematical finance looking to graduate with honors. At school I have excelled in mathmatics and economics classes. I was hired by the school to become a tutor and help my fellow classmates out. I help with any introductory math or econ class. My tutees say that it has helped them very much and their grades and understanding of the subjects have dramatically improved.
My goal as a tutor is to help my tutee understand the concepts fully. As I start to teach them I can analyze how they learn and the best way to help them learn the material. When I taught sailing to young kids, I used to dress up like a pirate. I have lots of energy. I know I'm doing my job right when kids start laughing. When I taught to teenagers, I kept in mind my own experiences at that age. My philosophy is that education should be as individualized as possible because people do not learn in the same manner. For instance, some people are visual learners while others, like myself, are auditory learners. I strongly believe that educators should expose their students to as many fields and ideas as possible.
