Education is enlightening, enjoyable, and energizing!

I returned to school at the age of 47 to get my degree in history. My experience consists of tutoring from 1 - 60 students (in the same hour), teaching at Greenville Technical College, and creating my own tutoring service. I deeply enjoy all kinds of history and have a passion for teaching others. From my very first job (selling papers at the age of 11), I have used teaching as the medium for interacting with people.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent graduate from Clemson University's Calhoun Honors College, I deeply believe in the importance of education. I graduated high school with a high GPA and a 1420/1600 SAT score, I was granted the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship to attend college, where I graduated in three and a half years with honors. As a Management major, I was one of the best writers in my classes. I feel that my education has adequately prepared me to tutor students in English, sociology, philosophy, and mathematics. For the past two and a half years, I have served as a volunteer Young Life leader at Wren High School. Mentoring high school students, I have learned how to communicate with them.

I believe education is primarily about learning, not merely making a grade. As I applied this philosophy in college, I realized that where true learning occurs good grades follow. I completed a bachelor's in accounting summa cum laude in 2009. In addition to my major focus in finance and business, I completed a minor in History and took an extensive number of English courses as well. I love that look that you get from a child who gets what you are teaching them. When the light bulb turns on, and you know that they understand the process. That's what makes it all worth it. My teaching style is that with enough work, any child can succeed. They just have to know they matter to the teacher. I am a hands on learner myself so visual tools help me to teach the concepts to students.
I am a graduate of Clemson University, with a BA in Biological Sciences. I have always enjoyed biology since my first AP class my Junior year of high school. After college graduation I worked for six months in a cancer research lab, which gave me the knowledge of "real life" science and how that effects our lives I have worked as an after school and summer camp counselor which has helped me learn how to relate to them, and teach them material they are learning in school.
