I primarily use the Socratic Method (question and answer) as my teaching style. I believe that asking students the right questions helps them to learn the information. Also, in certain instances I believe it helps the learning process if the subject matter can be related to an area of interest. I believe this can be a key component in a student's understanding of a subject.

I find working with children rewarding. I am patent and understanding and cater to individual learning styles. I use my artistic sense to help students visually understand learning. I like to help define the topic in common terms, not the classic dictionary method. I use presentation, discussion, videos and hands on activities. Most of what I do is inquiry based.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.
As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so.

I have been working in Special Education for ten years, four years as a tutor at Nashoba Regional High School and six years as a teacher. I have earned my Masters + 30 in my field. When I started teaching, I was working with students with emotional/behavioral disabilties at Fitchburg High School, but for the past four years I have been working at Leominster High School as a math inclusion teacher in the Algebra I and Geometry classes. I have experience tutoring students in Geometry and other subjects as well outside of school, for I have been tutoing for various districts for at least nine years.
I generally work with students with special needs in the regular education classes. I am interested in working with the youth. My experience includes a pre-practicum in a kindergarten as well as doing an internship in a second grade classroom. I have worked with children with down syndrome and autism. The past three years I was a student tutor at my college where I was their for the the students academically and emotionally.In May I graduated from Anna Maria College with a degree in Human Service and Human Development and a minor in Psychology.
