While completing my teaching degree I taught for three years with troubled youth. Subjects were regents level and the subject was earth science and algebra or course I as it is called in NY. I have also taught Summer school at the Allen Center in South Kortright which can be a tough crowd to work with. During my undergraduate studies I tutored chemistry and biology. I also taught 8th grade physical science in Prince George Virgina.
In science and math the learner has to practice much like learning to play a musical instrument. It helps if you can bring real world applications into the classroom so it is meaningful to the students otherwise they feel like they are learning something just for the cause of learning.

I love to educate children of many ages I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old in the house. You teach many different aspects of life, not just academically. Being a tutor for grades 6-8 was different because they had the basics. They needed to be informed and focused. Substitute teaching grades K-8 was rather different because the children acted as though they haven't learned anything, so you had to make them feel comfortable. I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I have been a full time tutor for the SUNY Research Foundation for four years and have tutored students in grades 6-9 in the areas of english,history,math and science.I am presently located at the Fort Plain High School with the research foundation program.Before this, I was a substitute teacher for three years in the following areas:math, science, english and history. This was also at the high school level.

I enjoy working with children and feel that they each have their own individual learning style. At times, I feel that conventional educational methods may fail some children.
