When I taught sailing to young kids, I used to dress up like a pirate. I have lots of energy. I know I'm doing my job right when kids start laughing. When I taught to teenagers, I kept in mind my own experiences at that age. I have taken math for 4 years in college. It is a subject that I very much enjoy-so much that all of my sons are also strong in mathematics. My oldest is a national merit scholar finalist, and my youngest son is captain of his high school math team. Math is fun, like a puzzle-once the student sees this fact, they begin having more fun and less fear of the subject. I am a patient teacher, and I use many different ways of communication.
