I have tutored students privately in subjects ranging from languages to math since 2001. One student has continued French lessons four hours a week every summer for five years. I completed a one-year French as a foreign language course in Martinique. I have taught several French for Beginners adult classes. I substitute teach at the local schools, and cover all ages and subjects (some of which I am more qualified for than others, and in the event I am less qualified, I let the students teach me what they know). During my years attending UMass Dartmouth, I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. But I also gained alot of experience working with children. I tutored elementary age students in the star program and college students at my campus job in the Unity House. I also was the coordinator for the New Bedford Speech Academy. This program taught students fron 4-6th grade public speaking skills. I have applied the skills I learned to my current job as a home tutor. As a professional educator it is my responsibility to make sure that all my students are given the skills and tools they need to help them to be successful in their next grade level. I currently teach AM/PM kindergarten which means I have to find fun and engaging ways to teach students all the skills they need to acquire in kindergarten in half the time that many of my fellow kindergarten teachers.
