My teaching style is unique to each student's indivdual needs. I take time to recognize my students learning style and provide the need materials or teaching style based their needs. I prefer tutoring to working in a classroom because I can give each student the specialized one-on-one time they need to help not only keep them on track with their school's requirements, but also introduce them to better study habits that could help them excel in the classroom when they do return to school.

My passion as a teacher is working with children. I have a passion for education that I hope to show through my teaching and share with all of my students. I believe every student learns differently and has strengths and weaknesses. My goal is to get to know my student's leaning styles and help them develop their strengths and use those strengths to improve the areas that are more difficult for them. I believe in Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences and I use the intelligences as often as possible in my lesson plans. A Little Bit About Me...

As a progressive educator, I believe in attainment of the standard benchmarks by individualized methods, utilitizng a spectrum of teaching modalities. My personal affect is cheerful and professional, although I believe that learning should be fun, and with me, it is.
Prior to my second career in the field of service to at-risk senior citizens, I taught English for four years at Westport High School. Following the reduction in force made necessary by budgetary constraints, I taught for ten years at the Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA as a Special Needs teacher. While rewarding, I missed the challenge of more literary pursuits and began teaching evening classes at a local communuity-based organization. My tutoring experience had its inception in that setting.
