A Little Bit About Me...

During my years attending UMass Dartmouth, I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. But I also gained alot of experience working with children. I tutored elementary age students in the star program and college students at my campus job in the Unity House. I also was the coordinator for the New Bedford Speech Academy. This program taught students fron 4-6th grade public speaking skills. I have applied the skills I learned to my current job as a home tutor. I tutor elementary to high school students in all subjects.
My teaching style is unique to each student's indivdual needs. I take time to recognize my students learning style and provide the need materials or teaching style based their needs. I love working with children of all ages. Children can learn very fast by talking, playing games and if properly taught they can remember in the long term. I am here to help children of all ages from english to math. I am very easy going, become a little kid with a child and am always smiley. I have a goods ways of explaining basic math, algebra, basic accounting and any business courses for older students and i can work around their way of thinking. I strive to make a difference in the people, as my position as a resident assistant allowed me to and as a law student wanted to make a difference. Teaching comes naturally to me in that I love to work with people (i.e. my professional career) and I love to encourage and inspire others to advance their lives through education. I create a comfortable atmosphere for students so that their stress level is reduced and they are able to focus on learning. At the same time, I make lessons fun yet serious. Learning requires having an interest, having a goal and paying attention. With individual tutoring, I use the opportunity to individualize lessons so students are motivated to achieve.
