Having over a decade of teaching and tutoring experience, I have worked in both the public and private sector. I have taught science and math for grades 8 - 12 and have tutored students ages 10 and up. In addition, I ran the library late night / homework help center program at a local high school. To teach is to "impart knowledge or skill to somebody by instruction or example" while education is defined as "to develop mentally, morally, or aesthetically especially by instruction". I aspire to be an educator, as defined above. While I believe in the content of the sciences, I am interested in evoking the thought process to utilize the scientific method as a problem solving technique applicable to all areas of life. Through life, didactic specifics of chemistry may wane, but the development of thought PROCESS -- that, to me, is true education. Teaching comes naturally to me in that I love to work with people (i.e. my professional career) and I love to encourage and inspire others to advance their lives through education. I create a comfortable atmosphere for students so that their stress level is reduced and they are able to focus on learning. At the same time, I make lessons fun yet serious.
