My teaching style is centered around working with an individual wherever they happen to be at. In college, I assisted other students in Drury's writing lab. And, as an editor and journalist, I have extensive skills in dealing with helping reporters to communicate clearly and succinctly. I graduated magna cum laude from Drury University, a private liberal arts college, in 1987, with a major in fine arts (photography and graphic design emphasis) and minor in communications (four years experience on the college newspaper). I also have 21 years of experience as an editor at weekly and daily newspapers in Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Working primarily at smaller newspapers, I have an extremely varied background of experiences - from writing "hard" news and features to on-the-job training for new reporters just out of college or new to the profession.

I have tutored in reading and math. I am currently attending Ashford University to complete my Early Childhood degree in 2012. I will then continue to get my degree in Special Education. I am a Special Education teacher by education and by choice. My teaching style is one that can be changed at any time to answer the learning style of a student. I am a hands-on, multiple teaching style person because I know that students do not learn by using just one learning style. If I said that I just had one teaching style, then I would only be teaching to one type of student and that is detrimental to all students. I am a retired law enforcement professional. I returned to college and earned a B.S. in Education in2004. Currently I am enrolled in a graduate program in leadership at Duquesne University and have completed 18 hours of that program. I will graduate with a M.S. in Leadership in December, 2010. I first must one hundred percent become knowledgeable and comfortable with the material I will be teaching. I enjoy being able to personalize myself not only with the work but the students as well.
