Before having children I worked as an teacher's aide at the local pre-school, working with 3-5 year-olds. After that I became a teacher's aid for the local middle school, working with children that were not allowed to go to regular classes due to their behavior. My main job was to show them how to write essays, reports, papers, etc. I also worked with their families as well and I loved it.
Working with children of all ages has taught me just how important education is. Reading and writing is especially important and they will need it in their everyday life. In having a great passion for working with/teaching children, I think that it is immensely important to remember that everyone has a different way of learning. Some ways work better for some as opposed to others. My teaching style is always based around the children that I am teaching. Overall, I have found that there are a lot of students out there that are best able to learn by hands activities and visual cues.
