Reading is one of my top subjects!

I am 18 years old, and the oldest child of 7 kids. I was homeschooled K-12, and am always helping my younger siblings with their daily schoolwork. I'm very patient and laid-back, and I have different ways of explaining something if the student doesn't understand. I use verbal and visual techniques for teaching and prefer to add an element of kinetic learning for tutoring. I explain the material in the book, preferably after the students have read the chapter. I also provide time for questions and answers, as well as group discussions and projects. I rely on exams only to show me if the students are understanding the material. If not I offer to tutor them or suggest they find a tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I find it rewarding to teach children and adults the necessary skills that allow them to obtain full English literacy. One of the greatest accomplishments in the course of the educational process is the acquisition of full, quality literacy; it is the foundation. I am currently enrolled in the Speech Language Pathology graduate program at Northeastern State University (NSU). In the program we are getting hands on training with one on one therapy/tutoring with students/clients in reading, grammar, phonics, and language skills. While in graduate school, I have written very many research papers and essays.
I believe one on one tutoring is very helpful to all children. Many children are behind in school because they are not getting the attention they need. I love to teach and work with children. That is why I am entering the field of Speech Language Pathology.
