Once in a classroom I realized that I was meant to teach. I love working with students who are challenging and those who challenge me. I believe that I can become a better teacher only by continually challenging myself and my students. The key phrase “engaging students” seems less than what is required in the classroom. I want my students to be engaged but I want them to encompass and enjoy what they are doing as well. I love technology and new method topics; I have a very strong math and science background as well as excellent written and verbal presentation skills. In high school I tutored junior high students who were having trouble in with school. After high school I joined the U.S Navy, where I trained junior personal for three years. I used my G.I bill Benefits to attend the University of Connecticut, where I received my Bachelors in History with a minor in Political Science. I Love to work with children to transfer knowledge and help them learn difficult to understand concepts. Currently, I volunteer 3 hours every Sunday to teach 6th through 9th graders. We start with a lesson (eg. ratio, percent, geometry, algebra, or probability), then move to a quiz or test. Finally, we end with a Math Jeapordy game or a Math Millionare Game.
