I then went to the Educator Prepardness Institute (EPI) through Gulf Coast Community College which helped me achieve my Florida State Educator Certification in 2008. I was a paraprofessional/substitute for 3 school years. An education is not just gained through books; every life experience is capable of teaching a child. Math can be taught through books, games or even by counting the number of sprinkles on their sundae. Science can be taught by explaining why the cloud is in the sky and why it is raining. After graduating college, I served in the US Army for six years as a Chemical Defense Officer. My primary duty was to ensure that all 17,000 soldiers in the 1st Cavalry Division were trained and equipped to properly deal with chemical and biological hazards.
