A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching has been something I have done a great deal of my life no matter what path I was on. When I was in nursing school, patient teaching was a strong point of mine. I love children. I am patient, kind and believe in utilizing intrinsic and extrinsic forms of lessons so that children develop a love of learning and see the short term rewards and long term rewards.My goal is to help a student succeed.
I am currently heading for a BS in Elementary Education while I am home schooling my children. I have home school grades 6-11. I have accomplished raising reading levels within 6 months past 2 grades past level. I have tutored and home schooled children outside my own and have been asked to assist children with reading. My shelves are currently equipped with grade K-10 curriculum and I am ready to provide part time and full time education on several subjects or one

I have earned a bachelors degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in Oil Painting,which has enabled me to understand different levels of painting. I have also learned many drawing techniques from the advanced drawing classes I took as a undergraduate. As an artist I have gained experience in how to talk about my artwork due to the juried shows and galleries I have shown my work in. In the last two years I have taught elementary students basic drawing and painting skills, and art history.
I really love teaching art to children. I think that everyone can learn to draw or paint and the best way to do that is to practice, practice, practice. Students will be more willing to maintain their learning as they proceed throughout the year. Another way ownership makes a big academic difference is through motivation. Ownership will also create self-confidence. A good teacher demonstrates faith in their ability to achieve simply by making them part of the process.
