A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching needs to adjust with each student or class, because everyone has their own flavor for learning. I tend to let the student take the lead at first, and then I try to guide them through the areas they're questioning. It's like a car on a road with a new driver: the student is driving all over the road, and I need to gently urge them into the right lane (or the correct answer). I also like to use real world examples when I can from my past experience, and encourage the student to do so as well.
When I first started college, I had no idea what to major in. I started taking creative writing and literature classes though, and found my niche in English. I enjoy writing, reading, proofreading, checking grammar and punctuation, and find myself reviewing billboards and magazines for errors. A Little Bit About Me...

Graduating magna cum laude, I take education seriously where I feel that everyone has the potential to grow and succeed. I have a bachelors degree in social work and a minor in human relations where I was on the deans list/graduated with cumulative average g. p. a. of 3.6. I was chosen as a IV-E child welfare scholar through Saint Cloud State/University of Minnesota where I received additional focus/training in helping children in need. I have had education in the liberal arts/general education and I am familiar with a variety of subjects. I have tutored children in a variety of subjects while volunteering for catholic charities in Saint Cloud. I also facilitated a support group helping individuals in need as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

After I received my degree in Elementary Education, I was a substitute teacher in IA for one year. I then worked, taught and advised at a small private college in Iowa. I have also owned and operated a daycare in my home for over three years. Currently have have spent the past two years as a substitute teacher for the Buffalo, MN school district. This is a job I love for the simple fact that I have variety everyday. It is also a great way to stay up to date on all subject matter. I am also in the process of earning my Master's Degree in Education.
I have been very successful at adapting my teaching style to fit the age and subject that I am teaching. I am easily able to gain students respect and attention, which has also made me a very useful substitute.
