I have 5.5 years at Michigan Technological University in the studies of Mechanical Engineering. I currently take classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in their certification for CAD Specialists. I have substitute taught in the pass for a few months, mainly elementary level kids. I also hold a minor in Foreign Language-German from Michigan Technological University. My passions are Math, Science and Computer Aided Design programs. I recalled my difficulties in learning difficult subjects, my difficulties are not universal but I draw from them in finding what is blocking the student from grasping certain concepts. I recall teaching my children at a very early age the concept of ratios. I used windows, tiles from the kitchen, a pizza pie etc. This, before going to pencil and paper and it worked. Till this day they know fractions inside and out because they understood the concept in real life. This is typically my approach, then we can go and do problems in the abstract on paper.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with young children and high school kids. I believe that it is important to get anyone I teach to be active in the education they are recieving. I believe that by showing a kid how to do something, then having them teach it back to me will help to stimulate them and retain the information. I find much fulfillment in helping someone understand statistics and mathematics. My approach is to come alongside each student and help them with each step, allowing them the opportunity to make mistakes in order that they may learn from them. I believe that stats and math can be understood by everyone as long as I can take the time to put it in their 'language'.
