As a volunteer with the Salvation Army I have spent many years volunteering with children, teaching Sunday School and Band. When I graduated from Norwich University, the oldest private military school in the nation with a BA in History, and spent two summers working at summer camps as a Swim instructor and lifeguard, I added to my knowledge and experience of teaching and tutoring. I have spent the last 5 years tutoring in History and music, and have general understanding of Science. As a musician I have focused mainly in Brass and vocal music and specialize in Trombone, but am proficient in Trumpet/Cornet, Baritone/Euphonium and Eb Tuba.

I believe it is very important to be constructive and patient when it comes to teaching. I believe that I am thoughtful, patient, considerate, and compassionate when it comes to teaching. I feel that it is extremely important not to give the student all the answers, but to assist them so they are able to use reasoning to figure out the solutions themselves. I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I have spent five years tutoring and 17 teaching, including 12 years of summer school. The best thing about teaching and tutoring science is that it easily transfers to all of the other disciplines.
