A Little Bit About Me...

My creativity allows me to come up with different teaching ideas depending on the child's needs. Differentiated instruction has helped me to reach the needs of all learners and positive reinforcement has helped to motivate students to want to do well. I believe that the social aspect of a child's life is just as important as the academics. Once these needs are met, children are more apt to reach their fullest potential.
Ever since I was in high school, I have always enjoyed working with children in a variety of situations. I helped out in a second grade classroom and enjoyed helping students understand their classwork. Even in college, I enjoyed helping my friends with math and writing. Last year, I taught a self-contained sixth grade classroom and this year, I taught a multi-age first and second grade classroom in the same school.

I started tutoring in 9th grade, and continued until my freshman year of college. I tutored middle school and high school students in math, sciences, and social studies. I like explain the problem to the students and then let them work on few problems on their own. I would then correct the problems that the students were working on and ask if they need any questions. If the students have questions or if they did not get the right answer I would then go over the problems together with the students and have them practice until they have the strategy down.
