I encourage students to see the wonder and "mystery" (there really isn't any mystery) of Math, regardless of the level, in the real world. To that aid, I try to present real world problems at levels the student can understand. For lower level students, I investigate with them the development of the linear equations involved in setting up a relationship between two factors. In tenth grade, I had an internship at my high school teaching ninth grade Global Studies. When I graduated college, I began substitute teaching while I wrote my first few novels.
