Latin is one of my top subjects! I am currently working on a Certificate in Latin at the Catholic University of America, but previously I had taken Latin throughout High School.

I am currently completing a Post Baccaulaureate certificate in Greek and Latin from the Catholic University of America. I had taken Latin during high school and worked as a tutor during that time. I am looking to begin tutoring again and hope to become a High School Latin teacher upon completing my program in December.

Let's get back down to the basics (Latin, History, Science)

I like to boil things down to the basics. With Latin and Science that means learning as much as one can about the basic elements and then building one step at a time on those basics. In history, it means learning the story, and telling the story.
I recieved a BA degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I majored in Classical Civilization (with a Latin Concentration) and History. I have 12 years of experience teaching Latin. The courses I have taught include introductory courses, Latin I, Latin II, and Latin III. 3 years of Life Science teaching experience. 4 years of History teaching experience (as a tour guide and history interpreter) 12 years of experience teaching writing as well.

Equipping, Movtivating & Stimulating Minds!

When teaching, I take the time to learn my students' personalities and strengths. Then, I tailor a strength-based approach to teaching my students new concepts and ideas. I usually incorporate a mixture of traditional and non-traditional teaching techniques in my lesson plans. I provide structured opportunities and supports for my students to apply what they have learned. I also challenge my students to take ownership of their own learning process by incorporating leadership development and civic engagement activities into my lesson plans.
I help others become their best selves. I enjoy teaching and tutoring youth and adults. Over the years, I have had opportunities to not only mentor and tutor youth, but to teach and tutor adults, as well. I have experience teaching and tutoring the following subjects: (1) Language Arts/Reading; (2) Language Arts/Writing; (3) Social Studies; ... read more

The key to teaching and learning Latin is patience. My approach combines traditional methods--for example, grammar work and vocabulary exercises--with newer methods that bring the materials alive for the students--for example, stories, word games, and projects. Nine years as a teacher has taught me a lot. Whether your student is struggling with the basics or ready to do more advanced Latin, I can help.
I studied Latin and Greek as an undergraduate, as well as French, German, and Russian, because I've always loved languages, especially hard ones. For the last nine years, I have tutored Latin to students ranging from those in middle school to college students and adult learners. Wanting to pursue my study of Latin and Greek further, I took a Master's degree focusing on the later life of these languages in the Middle Ages and how they grew into modern languages. I'm now a lecturer in ... read more

Teaching is more than just transferring your knowledge to somebody else, it is sharing a different point of view a new culture and exploring new things. My interpersonal skills are my best asset, I am patient and fun, but when it comes to the important aspects like studying I can also be strict and focused, which I think are important aspects in each learning process. I want to be the reason that a boy or a girl is better in school and happier in life, because I know that I can make the difference.
As a daughter of a professor I have learned that studying and learning is one of the most important things in life. Knowledge is priceless and a good that no one can take from you. Therefore I was very ambitious in university. I have started off with International Development but continued my Masters in Arabic in less than two years, because I was so focused and interested. I am a motivated teacher who desires to see the goals of the student achieved. Therefore, my teaching style takes the shape of the student, where some students are visual learners, whereas others are auditory or kinesthetic learners. Each style of learning has unique characteristics that enable the student to learn much greater when the learning style is known. By offering the student a survey of questions, I am better able to mold my teaching to their learning style and thus help the student reach their greatest potential for the subject at hand.
I have almost 10 years of experience of teaching students for the SAT,GRE, and specific subjects, combined. It started during my freshman year (1999) at Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL).
