I believe teaching is best learned though practical examples (especially math). because I used to say the same thing that I'm sure that kids today are saying. When am i ever going to use this in my daily life? Its important to let them see the applications from knowing calculus based formulas to predict market declines (algorithms), to basic math in in inventory work, to understanding complex words and their proper sentence usage so they can understand what rudimentary or neophyte means in a job interview. Also, its important to inspire. most of the children/ teens in a tutoring course have been discouraged due to the fact that they are not picking up on a subject as quickly as their peers. That why its understandable that if they have someone to look up to, as i did, in a particular course they tend to do better and go beyond what they though originally possible.

Though I have not had any experience teaching in any school system in the United States, when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine I taught both American history and American literature to high school aged students. I have a B.A. in history from the University of Arkansas and have had a great deal of experience working with youths as well. Currently I am in the Master's degree program at the University of Arkansas and have had experiences in researching, writing, and presenting my papers at conference.
