I use verbal and visual techniques for teaching and prefer to add an element of kinetic learning for tutoring. I explain the material in the book, preferably after the students have read the chapter. I also provide time for questions and answers, as well as group discussions and projects. I rely on exams only to show me if the students are understanding the material. If not I offer to tutor them or suggest they find a tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a long-term adjunct instructor, I have successfully cultivated an effective set of best teaching practices relative to the English language and Communications. I make every conscious attempt to relate to my students as individuals and to meet their educational needs. Additionally, I exert much effort with students to impress upon them the importance of education in their lives and the fact that learning can be totally fun.
I find it rewarding to teach children and adults the necessary skills that allow them to obtain full English literacy. One of the greatest accomplishments in the course of the educational process is the acquisition of full, quality literacy; it is the foundation. A Little Bit About Me...

I know that all students can learn. The trick to it is to get them to want to. As a teacher, I must be able to improvise, adapt and over come all obstacles that keep students from wanting to learn. I am an easy going teacher, looking for fun ways to teach the things that the students need to learn so they can reach their full potential.
I have spent the last 4 years working towards getting my BA in Education. I first earned my AA, concentrating on the Humanities. While earning my BA, I have had college level Grammar and Linguistics as well as a wide variety of Literature classes, including World Lit, American Lit, British Lit and Fantasy Lit. While in an administrative position at Bethel College I earned both my Bachelor degree and my Masters in Education, both focusing on Administration. Both those degrees further helped in my teaching style when I was called upon to teach Freshman Orientation, Social Dance, and become the Director of a summer youth program for two years that involved daily lessons.
