I am an experienced elementary classroom teacher. I have earned a bachelor degree, BS in Elementary Education with a minor in history, and a MEd in Educational Administration and Supervision. During my teaching career I have attended numerous workshops and training sessions covering a wide variety of educational topics and issues. I have coached/sponsored UIL Spelling and Herald Post Spelling Bees. I have done in - house (school) tutoring and after school tutoring with all elementary levels. I have tutored students in the areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts, and standardized tests. I have worked on Curriculum Committees, GT Committees, and a Textbook Adoption Committee. As a graduate of a major urban university and a person who has been well trained through rigorous Air Force courses, I have the formal education to have an impact on students. I have served as a state legislator, serve at Headquarters of the Georgia Air National Guard, write professionally,served as chairman of the local library board and have worked as a teacher for the last three years. In 2006 I taught graphic design topics at Westwood College. In 2007 I taught the same subject at The Creative Circus (roughly equivalent to an MBA program for designers, writers, photographers, and art directors). In 2008 I taught in the design department for Georgia State University. This summer I traveled to a remote region in India to teach English. I have taught GRE prep for the past 3 years, covering the verbal, quantitative (math), and analytical writing (essay) areas. As a test prep teacher, I have a close knowledge of students' approach to graduate school, and the process of improving their chances of acceptance to schools of choice. I am academically qualified and more especially interested in teaching humanities courses. The method of teaching I prefer is maieutic, i.e., one which draws knowledge from the student, rather than attempts to place it in him/her from without.

As a former computer instructor, I can't tell you how much I miss teaching. Teaching was the one career in my life where I felt completely fulfilled. I truly love sharing my knowledge and being able to teach others. In addition to teaching, I am also a lifelong student. I have a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, an Associates Degree in Website Design and I am working towards an Associates Degree in Computer Programming. One thing I learned about teaching is that I never fail to learn something new, whether it be from a challenging question a student asks, or insight from a student that puts a new idea into my perspective.
