I have extensive work experience and knowledge in the areas of Adult Education and Literacy, teaching English as a Second Language, Math and Science. I would like to share my enthusiasm for these subjects, and education in general. My teaching experiences in Adult Education and Literacy at Northside ISD, San Antonio Texas have allowed me to work with students from diverse backgrounds. During my teaching positions, I developed many skills including curriculum development, written and verbal communication skills, and sensitivity for diverse cultures. In the classroom, I create a student-centered where students have an opportunity to work collaboratively and share their ideas with me in constructing the learning and teaching process, rather than a teacher-centered environment. My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : Very Strong

My favorite teaching style is the classical Black Board style that may involve Power Point presentations. I am very patient with my students and like to believe that I have the capability to make every student learn.
I did an Undergraduate in Science with an honors in Chemistry, followed by an M.Sc. in Biochemistry and a PhD in Biochemistry. I was actively involved in Cancer Research in the Department of Biochemistry and have authored over 40 publications. Although I have expertise in Chemistry and Biochemistry, I have a passion for Math that includes Algebra 1 &2 , Pre-calculus, and Geometry.

Let us bridge the Gap of knowledge

My teaching style is flexible, base on the student. There are three major types of learners: visual, auditory, and tactile/kinesthetic. Each person has a learning style that is best for his/her intake and comprehension of new information. Visual learners generally think in terms of pictures and learn best from visuals and handouts, this style is my favorate and is how I learn best. Auditory learners learn best by listening. They usually like lecture and classroom discussions, and they might need to read written material aloud in order to fully understand it. Tactile/kinesthetic learners learn through touching, feeling, and experiencing the world around them. They do well with hands-on experiments, but they may have a hard time sitting through lectures and notes.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate, I worked for a federally funded tutoring program tutoring minority students in all mathematical subjects. I also served as a private tutor for high school or college chemistry and all mathematics courses. I have also taught the courses Elementary Statistics and Statistical Process Control for the Alamo Community College District for more than ten semesters, which included whatever tutoring was necessary to help my students.
I try to fit my teaching style to whatever the student is comfortable with. Basically, I first determine why a student needs to learn a particular concept in terms of the specific course, and then I work with the student to figure out the best way for the student to understand the concept. Because I have worked as a Researcher and Statistical Consultant as well as a Tutor, my first order of business is to determine what the real problem is, ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

In 2008, as an upper-level English major, I accepted a position with Schreiner University wherein I hoped to use my education in the concentration of composition. For the rest of my college career until I earned my B.A., I tutored fellow students at various stages of the writing process, from conceptualization to polishing. I also met frequently with fellow tutors to discuss researched tutoring theory and tactics. Having achieved great success in this position, my supervisor, the director of Schreiner's Writing Center, also personally arranged much contract work for me with clients of various ages and levels of education.
In my experience as a tutor, I have acquired the highly important skill of adaptability. Certainly, particular techniques and strategies such as asking provocative questions are helpful with any student of any age. More importantly, though, I have learned that ... read more
