I believe in learning to do things the "hard" way for math, making change, etc. Calculators are good for higher functions and after basics are learned. I recently spent my final year in college employed by Ohio University as a tutor for athletes. I was paired with a young wrestler and my duties were to help him with all aspects of his studies. During my time at Hocking Technical College, I was taking alot of biology related classes such as Botany, Ohio Trees, Aquatic Ecology and many other related classes.
