A Little Bit About Me...

I have helped students from my church for the past eight years in math science and english. I have also worked with my sisters first grade students in math. I enjoy working with youth. It is extremely rewarding to watch a child when that " i get moment" happens and their face lights up with pride, happiness and a sense of accomplishment.
Try to customize to students intrest in order to keeep attention and make as entertaining as possible. Every child sees things from different eyes. I just teach them how to look. I know that as a student I would hear one explanation that all of a sudden made things so clear and seem so simple. I try to find this for every individual student.

I seek a student-centered classroom with a balance of authority and trustworthiness in the teacher so that the students respect me while at the same time feeling comfortable to share their ideas freely. I like for students to apply what they learn soon after the lesson. For example, if the subject was math, and we had been doing multiplication by flash cards, I might ask a question about the number of squares on a chess board. I am a graduate of Bryan College with a degree in Music Education, having taken many education classes and completed a semester of student teaching at the elementary and high school level in Rhea County schools. My prior experience in teaching comes from over 5 years of teaching piano lessons to beginning through advanced students from age 4-adult. While at Bryan, I was a tutor for music theory students as well as assisted and edited English and literature papers and essays.
