My comments on tutoring Social Studies : I can easily help you achieve broad-based knowledge in social studies including sociology aspects.

I am a very-hands on teacher. I think the approach to teaching most any subject is making it "real" for students. Talking about the impact of a historical event, having daily conversations in a foreign language, and keeping a journal are all examples of exercises that I would use to help students who are struggling.
I have worked with the French public schools teaching English to non-English-speaking French students. This was a joined effort between my universities and the public school system. I have found that if a child is having trouble in a given subject, the first thing a teacher needs to do is access the child’s learning style. All children learn differently and if a child is having problems it is often because the information has only been presented one way. Therefore the material needs to be presented in various ways until the student learns it by which ever method works best for them. I get excited by helping children and adults learn and find it exciting to try to figure out why a student has not learned the subject area he/she is asking for help in.
