I have tutored in San Francisco and worked through the SFUSD for over 5 years and also for the MDUSD for over 3 years. I have worked with small groups, large groups and with individual children. I ran my own home daycare center where we had educational learning time every day and also had a lot of activities throughout the day.

A Little Bit About Me...

Both my parents were teachers and I enjoyed teaching as well. I've had good teachers and I know how important it is to be a student of your students and to know your stuff so that you can be effective as a teacher. I consider myself very patient, a good listener, and someone who can explain matters in multiple ways so that a student can understand and relate what they are learning to real life situations.
I'm a 25 year professional accountant with a CPA license in CAlifornia and Hawaii. I attended public schools and local community college before going on to graduate with high honors from the University of Hawaii. I moved to the mainland and worked full-time while obtaining my masters degree from USC. I've helped my 19 year old son through high school (he has a learning disability in math) and my 21 year old daughter with her business classes.

A Little Bit About Me...

Anyone can be taught anything as long as they are sincere in learning that thing. There is no one style of teaching that works for everyone. Any teacher worth their weight in salt would know that you have to first understand the student in order to teach them. Sometimes the teacher will need to teach the student how to learn.
I am dedicated to help others to better and empower themself through teaching and various learning processes. I have taught ESL at my church and enjoy helping others to overcome perceived barriers to learning. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Organizational Leadership and Development and feel strongly to helping people become better leaders as well as better people. The best way for this to happen is through listening, talking, and understanding the students' goals.
