What a better way to teach your teen than by a teen?

I graduated high school in late October of 2012. I am not currently in college. I am working twords bettering my future. I enjoy helping others and I find it easy. I used to be tutored and I hated it because the tutors seemed to not care if I got it. I make sure the person or people I am tutoring understand and remember how to do what I am asked to teach them. In high school my teachers used to send me to other classes and tutor kids in the middle of class. I am extremely flexable and can help just about anyone I try to teach. I will not say every because no one is perfect and I'm not going to pretend I am.

I prefer to work with students one on one, getting a sense of their skill level, and then engaging with them where they are at to help them work towards their own personal goals.
I have been playing chess for close to seven years, many of those at the tournament level. I was a natural when I started, and have only grown in my concepts of the logic and theory of the game. As an undergraduate at UConn, I pursued a number of fields from computer science to communications and philosophy, giving me a wide range of experience in a multitude of subject areas. In my senior year, I became a substitute teacher for grades 7-12 in all subjects. I am currently a graduate student in criminal justice, writing papers and doing research almost continuously.

My approach towards and methods of instruction are centered on meeting the diverse needs of different students and thus employing diverse strategies. Not all students learn the same way because their brains are attuned to different cognitive stimuli. An effective instructor will convey the same learning objectives through these different learning channels.
