My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : We have both online and Austin area in-home tutors for math. Each has either a science degree that involved math up to Calculus or higher, or a math Degree. Some are also Certified Math teachers too. Call us to ask about the exact teacher in your area and their skills specifically. If we do not have one, we can provide one within a reasonable time. Each Certified teacher has the ability and skills to individualize the teaching style, based on the child's learning style. Due to this, we offer for the teacher or tutor to do an assessment on the first session at the same fee as the tutorials. Once they do this, they are required to teach or tutor in the style fit to your child's learning and other skills for their potential and to help them reach their academic goals.
We are a tutoring company with a team of tutors and Certified Teachers. Each teacher and tutor is required to be experienced and have an education related to the subject or field they tutor or teach. I taught all subjects for adult learners preparing for the GED tests through Region IX Education Services Center's Adult Education program for 4 years in the evenings. I also taught English as a Second Language to adults. I am an Adult reading tutor for adults who could not read. I taught mathematics, vocabulary and biology to high school graduates preparing to take the nursing entrance exam at Vernon College. I also taught basic computer classes in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite for Vernon College's Wichita Falls campus for 4 years. I had one or two evening classes each semester. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my undergraduate years, I was recognized as an outstanding student and held the maximum number of teaching assistant positions every semester. I often met students in the library to hold tutoring groups, and I handed out my phone number in case someone needed my help anytime. I am currently working on my teachers certification, and my long term goal is to teach high school science. I have a passion for education and science, and I believe that my purpose for benefiting humankind is to train the future men and women of our country.
My preferred method of teaching is hands-on, through real experiments. My wife and I home-schooled our three children from 1993 until 2004. In addition, I was active in Scouts from 1994 until 2007 as Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor. These positions are supervisory in nature and involve both formal and informal teaching, mentoring and guiding. This experience also entailed several summer camps. My strengths are in the natural sciences, which formed the bulk of my work at UT, and English composition and grammar, as I gained extensive experience proofreading and writing essays for publication.
I typically employ the Socratic method: asking questions to discover what the student knows (or thinks he knows) and guiding his thinking toward discovering the knowledge himself.
