Creating Confident Students via Creative Learning

I like to use hands on and/or creative teaching methods when possible. I believe that practice and persistence makes perfect. I would say that my teaching style is "outside of the box". I use this effective method when possible, due to the fact that typically students have tried more standardized methods and have not been able to learn from them; therefore they seek tutoring.
I have assisted students with tutoring for most of my life. My mother has worked as a teacher since I was born. I have a broad spectrum in technical and creative skills when working with students. I worked as the Geology Tutor at UNC Asheville. I have worked as a tutor for K-5 students at Hall Fletcher Elementary School (also in Asheville, NC). I have also volunteered throughout my life, helping and tutoring students of all ages throughout my educational and professional career.

I am a calm teacher who believes all students can become successful if given the individual time and attention that is needed. My goal is to help the student by modeling and then using encouragement and self-esteem building so that the student will become more confident. All children can learn and be successful when given instructional guidance that is geared toward the individual and encouragement to try their best. I strive to reach each and every child to help them be successful and achieve their potential.
I have been working with students of varying socioeconomic backgrounds as a teacher. I have not only earned my Bachelor's Degree in English, I also have a Master's in Education. I love helping students succeed! I have taught students in all elementary subjects.
